Date: Tuesday March 12, 2019, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: The Art Institute of Chicago | 111 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603
Our inaugural NextUp Awards held at The Art Institute of Chicago was a success! It was an inspiring evening honoring students who have dedicated their time and talents for the good of the community.
This event awards scholarships to individuals 18 years of age or younger who have shown a transformative commitment to their communities – through fundraising, direct financial support, the development of charitable programs, volunteering, leadership and philanthropy.
Congratulations to all nine finalists and to our three winners in each age group:
- Lily Seibert (ages 12 and under): Lily’s Community Closet allows people to donate gently used clothing and shoes to be distributed to local families in need.
- Prarthana Prashanth (ages 13 – 15): Prarthana helped to implement the OneInMath program in the Chicago suburbs. High school volunteers instruct elementary school students in basic arithmetic over a period of several months.
- Justin Lorenz (ages 16 – 18): Through his organization, Pedal Empowerment, Justin provides bikes to at-risk kids at the Boys and Girls clubs in his neighborhood.
