Save Lives & Support a Charity

Give Blood & Give Back (GB&GB) is a partnership opportunity that doubles the impact of every blood donation. Based on the success of the Save Lives, Feed Families program, the GB&GB initiative promises to make a significant impact across our service areas. At the same time, GB&GB is a response to build our diminishing blood supply.

For GB&GB, Blood Science Foundation (BSF) selects nonprofit organizations (charity beneficiaries) to host and promote GB&GB blood drives. These drives attract new blood donors while helping to generate monetary donations from BSF and its funding partners to the selected charity beneficiaries in honor of each registered blood donor.

GB&GB blood drives are operated in partnership with Vitalant and promoted jointly by the funding partner and the charity beneficiary with funding secured by BSF.

As the fundraising arm of Vitalant, BSF selects charities that address the critical and basic needs of our communities as partners for GB&GB blood drives. BSF secures funding for these drives, which are promoted by partnering charities to their constituents and are operated by Vitalant. Partner charity beneficiaries receive a set monetary donation for each blood donor they help to register for a GB&GB blood drive with assistance from BSF.

Your gift of blood will help save up to three lives while also unlocking a monetary donation to help one of our charity beneficiaries meet the critical needs of individuals and families in our communities. When you donate blood at any GB&GB blood drive listed below, BSF will make a financial contribution in your honor to the charity beneficiary listed. Giving blood is giving back twice through GB&GB.

Volunteer blood donors are urgently needed to help patients in our hospitals and healthcare systems in our communities. By hosting a blood drive, you will build positive public relations while providing an essential location for blood donors to join you in saving lives and supporting charities. Vitalant must collect as many as 5,500 blood donations every day to meet patient needs. Take this opportunity to save lives and support two vital causes simultaneously.
